Nottoway County is a county located in the state of Virginia, USA. As of 2000, the population is 15,725. Its county seat is Nottoway.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 819 km² (316 mi²). 815 km² (315 mi²) of it is land and 4 km² (1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.46% water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 15,725 people, 5,664 households, and 3,885 families residing in the county. The population density is 19/km² (50/mi²). There are 6,373 housing units at an average density of 8/km² (20/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 57.16% White, 40.56% Black or African American, 0.13% Native American, 0.39% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.01% from other races, and 0.72% from two or more races. 1.58% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
