Greensville County is a county located in the state of Virginia. As of 2000, the population is 11,560. Its county seat is Emporia.


According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 769 km² (297 mi²). 765 km² (295 mi²) of it is land and 4 km² (1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.46% water.


As of the census of 2000, there are 11,560 people, 3,375 households, and 2,396 families residing in the county. The population density is 15/km² (39/mi²). There are 3,765 housing units at an average density of 5/km² (13/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 38.94% White, 59.75% Black or African American, 0.10% Native American, 0.40% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.47% from other races, and 0.32% from two or more races. 0.93% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
