Throckmorton County is a county located in the state of Texas. As of 2000, the population is 1,850. Its county seat is Throckmorton. The county is named for William Throckmorton, an early Collin County settler.


According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,371 km² (915 mi²). 2,363 km² (912 mi²) of it is land and 8 km² (3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.34% water.
