Hale County is a county located in the state of Texas. As of 2000, the population is 36,602. Its county seat is Plainview. The county was organized in 1888, and is named for Lt. John C. Hale, a hero of the Battle of San Jacinto.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,602 km² (1,005 mi²). 2,602 km² (1,005 mi²) of it is land and 0 km² (0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.01% water.
