Garfield County is a county located in the state of Nebraska. As of 2000, the population is 1,902. Its county seat is Burwell.


According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,480 km² (571 mi²). 1,476 km² (570 mi²) of it is land and 3 km² (1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.23% water.


As of the census of 2000, there are 1,902 people, 813 households, and 529 families residing in the county. The population density is 1/km² (3/mi²). There are 1,021 housing units at an average density of 1/km² (2/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 98.79% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 0.21% Native American, 0.05% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.37% from other races, and 0.53% from two or more races. 1.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
