Overview of Clark County, Missouri

Clark County is a county located in the state of Missouri. As of 2000, the population is 7,416. Its county seat is Kahoka. The county was named in honor of George Clark, a leader of the Lewis and Clark Expedition and governor of the Missouri Territory.


According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,326 km² (512 mi²). 1,314 km² (507 mi²) of it is land and 12 km² (5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.90% water.

There are 2,966 households out of which 30.30% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.70% are married couples living together, 7.00% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.90% are non-families. 26.40% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.60% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.46 and the average family size is 2.95.
