Todd County is a county located in the state of Minnesota. As of 2000, the population is 24,426. Its county seat is Long Prairie.


According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,536 km² (979 mi²). 2,440 km² (942 mi²) of it is land and 97 km² (37 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.81% water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 24,426 people, 9,342 households, and 6,511 families residing in the county. The population density is 10/km² (26/mi²). There are 11,900 housing units at an average density of 5/km² (13/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 97.54% White, 0.11% Black or African American, 0.48% Native American, 0.31% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.72% from other races, and 0.82% from two or more races. 1.90% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 9,342 households out of which 31.80% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.80% are married couples living together, 6.10% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.30% are non-families. 26.30% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.00% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.58 and the average family size is 3.14.
