Jackson County is a county located in the state of Minnesota. As of 2000, the population is 11,268. Its county seat is Jackson.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,863 km² (719 mi²). 1,817 km² (702 mi²) of it is land and 46 km² (18 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.47% water.

The racial makeup of the county is 97.07% White, 0.09% Black or African American, 0.12% Native American, 1.38% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.97% from other races, and 0.38% from two or more races. 1.86% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 4,556 households out of which 29.80% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.00% are married couples living together, 5.40% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.60% are non-families. 28.50% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.40% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.40 and the average family size is 2.95.
